(Under construction 2026)
The World of Elgana was my first intricate and massive fantasy world where every story is intertwined with the lore of the world. The inception of the world began in 2012, but the first story wasn’t written until 2016 when I decided to take the lore so far and challenge a 50k word challenge for National Novel Writing Month.
Lunar Heart, Shadow Bound would be the story that would kick off Elgana. It wasn’t even called Elgana back then, but the blue bipedal feline race Kattaluna, the Hybrids, the Sorcerers, the humans, and the shapeshifting Ilvagis would make their first appearances. But Kattaluna wasn’t “Kattaluna” and “Hybrid” had a different name. I didn’t know how the Sorcerer race really came to be yet, and whether or not they would ever stop bullying other races.
All the Elgana stories brought with them various writing challenges. 2016, 2019, 2021, 2022, each year I was a different writer as I was more developed than the last time I worked on an Elgana story, and with this came a set of different struggles. Maybe one year I struggled with developing my craft overall, and another year it would be more focused on intricate character relationships, and then another would focus on the earliest days of Elgana, and what it was like in the more ancient times.
Note: Elgana is still evolving (as of April 04, 2026). At this point in time, there’s the Ilvagi race I have left to explore (as it is the most underdeveloped in terms of lore), and the only way I can do that is to write a story where the main character is an Ilvagi. I already have plans for this.
This is the main page for all the articles where I talk about the ups and downs of creating the World of Elgana, and the struggles I face writing the stories that span across 600 or so years of Elgana’s life. If you want to know more about the details of the lore, you can check out Elgana – a Wiki for more information.
