Here are some things you need to know about humans in the World of Elgana:
Humans are just like us living in a society similar to our own. They’re commonly referred to as “Furless” or “Salts” by the other races. “Salts” because Earth has huge bodies of salty water which the humans crave all the time. They have “salt pools” scattered throughout their habitat. These salt pools have waves to mimic the oceans and humans spend a lot of time in them. It’s said that since humans evolved from creatures that stepped out of the salty waters, craving to return to their birthplace is the reason for their obsession with pools of saltwater.
Humans also consume more salt than any other race, and have invented various ways to create salt despite the lack (not absence) of it on Elgana, and so, many races buy salt from humans.
The Human race also dominates all other races in terms of population because they multiply like rabbits and have large families. Think of the documentaries about the households with 20 kids. Many humans tend to have a superiority complex, and the way they act is a mix of gangster and sophisticated businessman.

Habitat
Torus Planet 1 a.k.a the First Ring: The most modern torus planet in terms of technological advancement. The First Ring is the innermost torus planet and the center is a hole which is dark and no light penetrates it. Some speculate that it’s a blackhole. No space probes gone in have ever come out and their signals have been lost.
Some scientists say that it’s a new kind of blackhole. Others say that it’s some dark matter that keeps Elgana from collapsing. But whatever it is, the closer you are to it, time distortion can make you go insane, and you might be dragged into it. The hole has claimed many citizens. Native Elganians called this “Guardian’s Eye”, where the “eye” was synonymous to “soul”. They believed it was a sacred place leading to the realm of the Guardians. (Read more: What’s in the hole of Elgana? Theories and Speculations)
While there are walled-in modern cities with glass skyscrapers and near-ancient cities with tall Gothic towers, there are also a lot of deserts and humans will inhabit anywhere. Just like the dust under your bed :P

Desert Isles have pockets of civilization inhabiting them. Each pocket is a city. The domes are to keep the dust out and protect people from sandstorms that can come at night. The domes have tiny holes on top to let in air.
Many Hybrids also live on torus planet 1, but mostly because they have friends there, do business there, or have family. (Read more about Hybrids: Hybrids of Elgana – a Wiki)
What do they look like?
Humans occupied Elgana hundreds of years ago, so the humans born in Elgana have a completely different idea of what race and specie are. It’s not about skin tones anymore. Humans live in a world filled with non-Humans, so discriminating against others because of skin tone started to make no sense.
At the time of occupation, humans were the outliers. To native Elganians (who were bipedal creatures with fur, scales, or feathers), humans were the weird ones no matter their skin tone because they only had skin and some fluff on their head and other odd places.
Today, Humans are typically darker and the lighter or whiter skin tones have a bit of a bad reputation but not enough to cause any discrimination. At least not in a large scale.
Technology
No smartphones. They have other, better things to play with ;)
Language
Universal language, sign language, and Braille. Humans also have a bunch of dialects.
Gender
Any gender.
Important thing to note here is the idea of gender is different from our typical understanding. Male and female are words to describe someone just like you might with skin tone. A separate article below for this to explain the understanding of gender in the world of Elgana, but in a nutshell, sexual orientation and gender are two separate things. Gender is just what you were assigned with at birth and what you might call someone if you see them for the first time, based on stereotypical understandings. If they look male, you might call them male. If they correct you and say they are gender fluid, you will ask their pronouns.
From the start, the natives of Elgana already had no issue with different genders and identities (they already had different genders and identities), and so, integration of human culture and ways of thinking didn’t meet such a large wall.
Diet
Anything we eat today in our world, they eat. Although, some fast food is different.
Hierarchy
Humans live under a democracy. They believe they have achieved a flawless government but I’m not so certain about that :P
Power
Humans can, at times, birth a human that can use magick like Sorcerers. It is like a recessive gene. (Read more: Human-borns & Sorcerer-borns)
Apart from that exception, humans have no magical powers. However, despite being in the smallest, innermost torus planet, humans have a huge population which gives them power over others. There are just too many humans.
The sheer number of them was one of the reasons some of them had to leave Earth in search for another planet to occupy.
Humans were suffering from a decrease in population at some point in their history, so they decided to support humongous families of 20 kids and more. This meant too many humans struggling for power and a place to live, creating a post-apocalyptic situation.
It was the power-hungry humans who largely joined this generational expedition to find another livable planet, so you can bet that the kinds of humans that arrived on Elgana were looking to rule it. They’re fueled by their ancestors’ fiery ambitions. It was the humans that would eventually suggest a collaborative, yet single ruling power for Elgana (Read more: Ruler of the Entire World: What an Empire-Democracy looks like)
