Google. The place to go if you are in doubt of anything.
And I mean anything.
Since I’ve seen this trend on YouTube, why not bring it to blog world?
So, above you can see I typed in “is fiction writing” and then let the drop down to it’s droppy downy thing. I then screenshot it, and snip, snip, and here we are.
Before I start, I need to look up “haram” because I am clueless. So, according to Oxford Dictionaries (OD is an old pal of mine, heh, heh) it means, “forbidden or proscribed by Islamic law” and not to be confused with “harem”.
HARAM = forbidden or proscribed by Islamic law (OD: haram)
HAREM = (in former times) the separate part of a Muslim household reserved for wives, concubines, and female servants (OD: harem)
We learn new things every day, apparently. So, if you didn’t know what haram was or what a harem was, now you do 🙂 You’re welcome (Moana reference).
Let’s get to the first question then.
Is fiction writing haram?
That’s a very interesting question (a phrase used by people who have to think for a moment because they can’t come up with the answer right away).
You might find the answer here on Quora. If everyone knows it to be untrue, like a story about dragons, then, it’s okay. BUT, if everyone knows the story (like about the war) and you portray it in a false light, that can be haram…I think. Basically, they don’t wantcha lion, okay? 🙂
Is writing fiction hard?
YES. But it’s fun, too. Every fiction writer will tell you that. Whether it be fantasy fiction, mystery, horror, coming up with a story from scratch or even basing it off of a true story, fiction writing is hard.
Don’t let my words scare you away. If you have a story in your head, try it out. You are in complete control of what you write. Your story. Do what ever you like, and don’t be afraid to ask for help from those (like me) who have been doing this for a long time.
So, again, yes, it can be hard, but rewarding and fun.
Is writing fiction or non fiction?
Writing can be fiction or non fiction. Just choose your genre. I think that was the question…
What is fiction writing?
Fiction writing is…
either making up a story from scratch (create the world)
OR basing it off of your own life or someone else’s (but adding fictional elements and events)
OR basing it off on a historical figure but changing the perspective or course of events (historical fiction),
fiction writing has many, many aspects to it but, all in all, you create a story that didn’t happen. If it did, that would be non fiction or a biography.
What is fiction writing style?
Your style. Whatever style feels right to you. In the beginning, you may copy the style of your favorite writer but as you gain experience and practice writing a lot, you’ll soon find your own style.
Yes, yes, true, someone else might have the exact same style BUT, they are not looking at the story from YOUR perspective. So it still is your style.
Is creative writing fiction?
Yes, it can be. Creative writing can be fiction, non fiction, blog writing, magazine writing – as long as you’re being creative in how you write and/or making stuff up.
In contrast to creative writing is academic writing. You are not allowed to say, “The shadows stretched long across the asphalt as I took out my recorder to conduct the necessary interviews which I needed for my research – an arduous task only a student will really understand.” You must only say, “My methods include interviews….”.
Which, I think, is so boring.
Is writing fiction a sin?
I think that has been answer in “Is fiction writing haram?”
Why is writing fiction so hard?
Aha, sounds like someone (or a bunch of someones) was having a bad writer’s day 😉
Writing fiction IS hard. It can be very hard to write fiction sometimes mostly because you get writersblockitis and need to come out of it but the blank page keeps taunting you. Or, you might be overwhelmed with all the things you need to think about for your world building.
WRITERSBLOCKITIS: A disease that writers get that prevents them from feeling creative and getting work done. Can be contagious. No scientist has found a cure yet. (The Tiger Writer Dictionaries)
Writing fiction is certainly not easy but know that even J. K. Rowling, even George R. R. Martin, even Murakami Haruki have all suffered through writing fiction and they still do today.
Is narrative writing fiction or non fiction?
Depends on what the heck you’re narrating.
If you start out with “I look out my window and see a big dragon eating my daisies”, it’s probably fiction.
But if you start out with, “The coffee cup sits on my desk as I write this blog answering to google’s most searched questions”, it’s probably non fiction.
Is writing fiction a waste of time?
GASP (Tigger reference)
I can’t believe that’s on this list of most asked questions! Writing fiction is only a waste of time if there are other things in your life far more important than writing.
Yes, writing is time consuming so you do need a certain level of commitment. You do need to love writing otherwise, it might turn into a waste of time for you.
But for those of you who like it, no, it is not a waste of time. It should never be a waste of time.
Good heavens, good gracious, why ask Google such a question? :0
